caption contest, contraption from 1911

Now that the busyness of the holiday season is over, we can get back to normal around here.   And part of normal is a weekly caption contest.   (Thanks to those of you who noticed we missed the last two weeks — it’s nice that someone actually noticed!   I knew there were people who actually read this!)

This week’s photo is an old black-and-white / sepia-tone picture from 1911.  It’s a man holding some type of contraption — I don’t know what it is, so you get to make it up.  You can also explain who he is and what he’s up to.  Is that his invention?  Is it to make life better?  Is it for a prank?  Is it part of some world domination scheme?  You get to decide.  So think up something funny to explain this picture.  Remember, you can create your own context to fit the story.  You can even set the scenario in modern times (or include a time machine, which has a lot of potential).

caption contest, overweight woman at Burger King

It’s time for another caption contest, and I’ve been hearing it doesn’t need to be late this week.  So here goes…

This week’s photo features a man and woman eating at the same table.  The man’s T-shirt could potentially be offensive to the woman, for obvious reasons.  There’s also the fact that they’re at Burger King, which is not exactly a health food type restaurant.  It’s up to you to write a funny caption to explain what either of these people might be thinking or about to say.  Or you can make a joke about the situation.   The only requirement is that it’s funny (and clean).

caption contest, bullfighting, bull landing on head

You might expect a turkey or Thanksgiving themed caption contest, since turkey day is this week, but you won’t get one here this year.  (I didn’t see any funny turkey pictures in my stash and I don’t have time to search for one.)  Instead of a turkey, how about a bull?  Not to eat, but to FIGHT!

This week’s picture involves a bullfighter, but the bull has landed on his head somehow.   Think of some funny way to explain this photo.   Your caption can be from the bullfighter, the bull, the announcers, anyone in the stands, or just an anonymous observation.  It can be a one-liner, a dumb pun, or a short story — it doesn’t matter, as long as it is funny.

caption contest, President Obama walking into a crowd

With President Barack Obama going on a 10-day trip to India, Indonesia, South Korea, and Japan, and with all the hoopla and controversy surrounding that, I figured it’s as good a time as ever to use this photo for a caption contest.   Here, Obama and his Secret Service personnel are walking into a large crowd.  Some guy in the crowd either wants to touch his face or slap him — not sure what that’s about or how that will end up.   So that’s one thing to discuss, but since a picture is worth a thousand words, there should be plenty to say.  And of course, you can always make up a story to go with it, whether based on current events or completely fictional.   So think of something funny to say about this picture and leave it in a comment for all to enjoy.
