caption contest, man pointing at food

A new week, and a new caption contest — they just seem to go together, don’t they?  Anyway, this week’s picture features a man pointing at a plate of food.  He looks kinda like Adam Richman of Man v Food fame, but I’m not for sure if it is.  The food appears to be some type of cheeseburger, but that is open to your interpretation.

Here’s how the game works.  You write a caption for this picture, explaining what is going on.  The goal is to think of something funny.  Why is this man pointing at his food?  What is he saying or thinking?  What is the guy in the background thinking?  Feel free to make up a short story to explain it, if you feel so inspired.  Of course, one-liners are welcome.  (Puns are not necessarily welcome, but are tolerated.)  🙂

funny costumes, pt 3

We’ve made several posts already containing funny / cool / awesome / weird Halloween costumes, but the pictures continue to pour in, so here’s more.  Feel free to comment on any of them, if you have something funny to add.

If you happen to be stuck in a wheelchair during Halloween, convert it to the Batmobile.
I know, there's the saying "if pigs had wings", and some people will be amused by how corny it is, but some people will think it's stupid. Wear at your own risk.
Green army men. This is cool.
I like this because it shows creativity and it's unique.
I'm not sure if he's supposed to be the Silver Surfer or Aluminum Foil Man. At least he tried...
Speaking of trying... here's Mario, Wario, Luigi, Toad, and Princess Peach (or is that Daisy?)
Oh, my! This somewhat resembles Wonder Woman, but something just ain't quite right. This reminds me of the Tacky Party our singles group at church used to have...

This is getting long and there’s still more to go, so I’m going to break this up into multiple posts.  Here’s a link to search for the other funny costumes posts.

Why do women wear high heels?

Have you ever wondered why women wear uncomfortable high heels?  From what I’ve heard, those shoes are very uncomfortable and are bad for posture and bad for long-term physical health.  So why do women wear them?  Is it to be taller?  Is it to look better?  I figure it’s some combination of those things.  But that leads to another question — is it worth the trouble?

A study at Northumbria University has determined that men cannot tell if a woman is wearing high heels when they walk.  In the experiment, men couldn’t tell when women were wearing high heels, unless they happened to see the shoes directly.  And from personal research, I’ll say that men tend to not notice what kind of shoes a woman is wearing.

In related news, men don’t notice what kind of handbag / purse a woman is carrying.  I don’t know if there’s a study for that, but I suspect it’s true.  I don’t know any men who care or even notice whether their girlfriend’s / wife’s purse matches her outfit.  So why is it such a big deal?

Also related, have you ever noticed women who are dressed nice and have their hair fixed impeccably yet are dating a guy who looks like he just crawled out of bed?  The woman appears to be really concerned about physical appearance in herself but not concerned about it with the man she’s with.  Does that make sense?

If you have answers for any of these confusing issues, feel free to explain in a comment.

Super Mario Bros car decals

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Super Mario Bros., so we’re seeing all kinds of nostalgic memorabilia.  If you want to show your gaming nerdiness to the world, you can get decals of World 1-1 for the side of your car.  I think they look cool!  If you have a hooptie (I’m looking at you, Mango-Man), this would surely make your vehicle look better!
