caption contest, woman tending garden despite fire

The last caption contest was definitely not action-packed (not that they have to be).  This week’s photo has both calmness and fire at the same time.  How that all fits into the story is up to you.  It involves a woman tending her garden while a big fire with dark clouds of smoke rages nearby.

Let’s see what you can come up with to explain this scenario.  Did the woman have anything to do with the fire?  If not, who did?  What’s burning?  Might this possibly tie in with a previous caption contest?  Is there a way to connect it to current events?  Use your imagination.  Have fun with it.

Lady: “Nothing to see here, officer, just tending my garden. Definitely didn’t have anything to do with that explosion. I blame it on the neighborhood ninjas.”

We kept telling Mango-Man we were gonna build a giant straw Christmas goat in his yard and set it on fire. But we might’ve put a few too many fire “enhancers” in it…

But don’t worry — we’ll keep trying until we get just the right mixture of fire with giant straw goat. 🙂

Fire Marshall Bill is going around the neighborhood to promote fire safety. He’s about to walk into this lady’s yard and say, “Lemme show you something!”

Lady: “That happens all the time. My neighbor says he’s some Important Evil Genius who keeps talking about taking over the world but only manages to set his backyard on fire. I just ignore him…”

Lady: “But if he ever burns down my ketunias, I’m gonna open a can of whoop-butt on him! Don’t think I won’t!”

The fire could’ve been caused by Mango-Man playing with matches near the septic tank. Or (far less plausible, but theoretically possible, depending on which ill-defined Grand Unifying Theory of physics one subscribes to), some random fluctuation in the space-time continuum might have produced a shatteringly brief but nonetheless real electromagnetic discombobulation which caused the spontaneous eruption of the neighbor’s septic tank.

I applaud the use of explosions in your caption contest. But it could still use a few more. The plant-to-explosion ratio is way too high.

Lady: “My neighbor has had a big pile of manure in his yard for months, and it kept stinking up my yard, so I kept telling him he’d better do something about it or I would!”
