tech support

Many companies talk about how important the customer is and so forth.  I generally try to avoid calling tech support, but the few times I've had to, I usually had to wait a long time (sometimes even an hour).  Then I thought :

I wonder how long I would be on hold if my call wasn't important to them?

looking forward to Monday

Today is Friday, yet I'm actually looking forward to Monday.  Am I crazy?  Do I just love going to work?  No, of course not.  But this Monday is Memorial Day, so I'm off work.  And so are a lot of people, so that's not anything newsworthy… but how often do you get to say you're looking forward to a Monday?  🙂

top 10 strangest robots.

I received this in an e-mail the other day… a link to the top 10 strangest robots. (Check it out here)  Some are pretty interesting… One is a robot 'controlled' by a cockroach.

Anyway, If you were to build a robot what would yours be able to do?

i'm thinking one to go & find my lost tv remotes would be good.  Or better yet, one about as tall as a table-side stand with a built in tea-maker (water sugar & all) that made tea to your specifications… on top it'd be flat so you could put your glass there.  & it'd follow you around wherever you went in case you got thirsty.  Now THAT would be a good use of technology…  what to call it?  well, MR. TEA of course 🙂

the oppression of evil people

Evil people are the most oppressed minority in the country these days.  Government officials who would never dream of using racial or religious epithets in their speeches have no qualms about calling for the incarceration or execution of every Evil person they see.  Society's disdain for the Evil causes no problems for the rich and the powerful — they can simply retire to their private islands and spend their days happily diddling with their Doomsday Machines and giving melodramatic orders to their henchmen.  But where does that leave the everyday Evil-Americans who don't have their own private islands?  What about the average Joe and Jane Evil, who have kids and mortgage payments and college loans and can't even afford to hire one henchman, let alone an entire army?  Joe and Jane have nowhere else to go; they are forced to live in a society that oppresses them.  And so Evil-Americans must hide their true selves from their neighbors and colleagues.
