significant weather

Today the city I live in was under a “Significant Weather Alert”, according to weather.com.  I’m used to seeing thunderstorm watches and warnings, but this was something different.  The statement said this :

THE STORMS ARE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING WIND GUSTS UP TO 45 MPH…SMALL HAIL…CONTINUOUS AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING…AND VERY HEAVY RAIN. THE HEAVY RAIN COULD CAUSE LOCALIZED FLOODING IN LOW LYING AREAS AND PONDING ON ROADWAYS.

Sounds like it should be a thunderstorm watch and a flood watch.  We got some of this, and it also got very dark at 4:00 here, but what I didn’t see was the “continuous” lightning they mentioned.  I’ve seen a storm produce nearly continuous lightning, where about every second there were lightning flashing across the sky.  That doesn’t happen often enough, in my opinion.  I like to take photos of lightning, and that could create some great pictures.

I realize this post doesn’t say much, so here’s another of my pictures of lightning, from last year.  🙂
