much randomness on Facebook

That subject could go a couple of ways, and I will take both paths in one post… or at least try and see what happens.  First, there’s already randomness and humor on Facebook.  People post some crazy things, displaying their ignorance / stupidity for all their friends to see.  Case in point:

For the second direction, consider this an announcement that Buffet o’ Blog is joining the Facebook.  Now you can like / follow Buffet o’ Blog via your personal Facebook account.

This will increase our virtual community of people who enjoy clean humor, funny stuff, and randomness.  The more, the merrier, as they say — which will especially apply to the caption contests and free-for-all stories.

This will also make it easier to share posts with friends.  We’d appreciate the referral, and surely you know people who either like this kind of humor already or who need more humor in their life.

So thank you for your support, and we’ll continue to publish funny stuff you’ve never seen or thought of before.  🙂

caption contest, Japanese guys in crazy costumes

Despite the uncertainty with my calendar this week, I bring you another weekly caption contest.  This week’s photo features Japanese guys in crazy costumes.  What they’re probably doing in real life is fairly obvious, but of course you are free to create any interpretation / interpolation you can imagine.  Actually, it would be more fun if you think outside the box.  For example, how could these picture tie in with world events?  Politics?  A friend of yours?  (And then send them the link to the post.)  Your job?

the Darth Vader burger

Ironically, after publishing this week’s caption contest featuring Darth Vader and Ronald McDonald, I happened across an image of a Darth Vader burger.  Apparently some restaurant in France has created a Darth Vader burger which has a black bun.  It definitely looks evil!  (I’m not sure what evil tastes like, and I don’t really want to find out.)

They also created a Jedi Burger, which looks lame.  Are those marshmallows?  And what’s that sauce?  I may not want to know…

The restaurant says the black bun is just from a dye, that it should taste the same.  It actually looks kinda cool, though it doesn’t look edible.  Still, I’d try it, given the opportunity.

For those of you curious why this is happening now, it’s to promote the re-release of The Phantom Menace — this time in 3D.  And if you noticed the spelling of Vador, apparently that’s how it’s spelled in France.  I don’t know why it would change, but whatever.

free food at Arby’s

Here at Buffet o’ Blog, I usually write about funny stuff — whether original humor or linking to something that’s humorous.  But there is the occasional public service announcement, particularly when it comes to food.  Not only is food important (it’s part of a balanced breakfast), but it can be quite an enjoyable experience.

There have been numerous discussions with the staff here that turned to Arby’s food, especially their curly fries.  (We also had an excellent idea for how Arby’s could gain more impulse customers by using the natural wafting action of the aroma of their curly fries.   But so far they haven’t contacted us.)  Anyway, I’m going to speak about Arby’s again, just so you are in the know.

beef-n-cheddar

At a recent visit to Arby’s, the back of the receipt told of a survey you could take to get a free sandwich — a Regular Roast Beef or a Beef ‘n Cheddar.   Those are both around $3, so that’s something to speak of (hence the post).  The survey is really easy to complete and takes only a few minutes.   I’ve used one already to get a free sandwich.  And the best part is, upon redeeming my free sandwich, I got another survey, which led to another promotional code.  (I did make a purchase in addition to the free sandwich — had to have some curly fries!)

I don’t guarantee that this offer will last or that all receipts include the survey.  But since I’ve gotten two in a row, I figure the odds are good, and you might want to stop by there some time.  It’s nice to get free food.
