Do you have any questions?

I’m fairly sure some of you have forgotten about the “Contact Us” page of this blog.  (That, or either you already know everything, and I have trouble accepting that.)   The contact form is for more than just kind words about how awesome our blog is — you can ask any question.  While we may not know absolutely everything, we do figure to know about 98% of all knowable stuff (+/- 3 percent).

If you’re embarrassed to use your real name, that’s okay — use a nickname.   It matters not to us — we’ll dispense our ignorance and wisdumb to anyone.  🙂  If no one here knows the answer, we’ll make one up, and it might even be funny!  Who else offers that kind of guarantee?  Test us in this and see if we will not throw open the floodgates of randomness and pour out so much ignorance that you will not have room enough for it.

So bookmark the page, and when something is confusing, feel free to ask.  You may not get a personalized e-mail reply, but if we can make a funny post out of it, it may get published on the blog.  It’ll be fun — and it’ll be easier than googling the Internet and reading through lots of links.  And who knows, you may even learn something!  🙂

world’s biggest private residence

Here at Buffet o’ Blog, we know about being over-the-top — albeit mostly in imagination.  We can come up with some crazy-huge ideas.  Unfortunately, we usually don’t have the funding to follow through with all those awesome ideas.  But there are a few extremely rich people who will spare no expense when it comes to implementing their dreams.  (We need to find a few wealthy investors to fund some of our ideas.  So if you’ve got more money than you need, have your people contact our people…)

In the news today, India’s richest man (estimated at $27 billion) has moved into the world’s biggest private residence.   It’s a 27-story-building in Mumbai. It has three helipads and its own air-traffic control station on the roof.  The 570-foot-tall glass tower has a swimming pool, health club, salon, and a mini-theater.  The first six floors are a parking garage for more than 160 cars.  And it has 9 elevators.

The link above has a picture, and it doesn’t look like a private residence to me.  The “house” was initially to be built for $70 million, but a newspaper says it was closer to $1 billion.  I’m thinking if I was going to spend that much for my own custom house, it would look a lot different.   But to each their own.

But wait, there’s more.   The residence requires about 600 staffers to run it.  That’s what I really don’t get.  How much work is there to do for 600 staffers?   That’s a LOT of people!  At first thought, I’m not sure what that many people would do.  But I reckon if we all combine our imagination, we can come up with something.   So here’s your homework — if you had a huge mansion and 600 staffers, what would you have them do?  Remember, money is no object.  Post your ideas in a comment, so we can figure this out.

caption contest, sports fan with shirt off

Thanks to those of you who noticed the lack of a caption contest last week.  It’s nice to know I was missed.  🙂

Getting back to normal, here’s our weekly caption contest.  Since this is a big time for sports, with the MLB / baseball playoffs in full swing, the NFL underway, NCAA football going, and the NBA preseason, there’s a lot going on.  So I chose a sports-related picture for this week.  It’s an overweight sports fan with his shirt off.

It’s up to you to figure out what’s going on here.  What is he doing?  What do the people around him think?  What’s about to happen?  Why is this a bad idea?  What happened to his shirt?

(To see our other caption contests, click on the “Say What?” category in the sidebar.)

Where did the new posts go?

I’m finally getting back to new posts now.  Has it really been two weeks?  Inconceivable!   Here’s what happened — my computer got really sick. It either had a virus or there was a major corruption of the .NET Framework or some such issue.  Either way, most of my programs didn’t work, and it was hindering my work and my slacking, so getting it fixed became an important issue.  So new posts were neglected during that time.  Also, my monitor quit working, which further added to the problems.   Besides all this, there were all kinds of other stuff going wrong in my life.  I don’t remember everything that happened, but I’m pretty sure the Earth blew up.  (Just checking if you were still paying attention… it hasn’t gotten that bad yet!)

I won’t list all the things that went wrong.  It’s all spilled milk under the bridge now.  And I think it’s time to burn that bridge.

So blame the real world for the lack of new content lately.  Hopefully I can now return to my own little world, where everything I do turns out awesome and my coolness is beyond comprehension.
