Yanni’s inspiration for his music

YanniFab called me the other night to tell me that Yanni was on TV, performing a concert.   I’m not a Yanni fan — his music makes me sleepy and bored — but it can be amusing / funny because some of his playing is so predictable, and because his “emotive acts” are over-acted.  He sometimes makes fist pumps during mellow music, and he waves his arms around at various times.  And in his music, there’s often a certain “turn” that appears in many songs multiple times.

Speaking of Yanni, I came across one of his quotes one time, and it reveals something about his life and why his music is like it is:

I take life’s experiences and translate them into music. ~ Yanni

What that says to me is that Yanni needs to get out more and get some excitement in his life!   He has put out a LOT of mellow music, so maybe he needs to add some exciting events to give him more exciting inspiration for his music.   Perhaps he could follow a professional or collegiate sports team, or watch action movies, or read this blog, etc.

Yanni has also said at times that he doesn’t listen to music.  That seems quite ironic, given that he is a musician.  I wonder what effect it would have on his music if he listened to some of the great music out there…

preparing for the upcoming robot rebellion

I don’t know if you saw this in the news, but it’s scary that our world might soon be overrun by good-robots-turned-evil.  I know, some of you probably think this is another far-fetched imagination of mine, but here is the link to prove you wrong: Experts Warn of “Terminator”-Style Military-Robot Rebellion.  This report was funded by and prepared for the U.S. Navy’s Office of Naval Research.  So this ain’t no joke!

It’s ironic that they’re warning us of this before such robots are even created and deployed.  But that obviously means that this is a very serious threat, one not to take lightly.  I think this calls for a constitutional amendment!  We currently have “the right to bear arms”, which is to protect us, but that won’t keep us safe from Terminator-style robots that will surely be bulletproof.  So obviously we need access to some high-tech weapons, such as ones designed only to combat robots.

Since our government moves at the speed of molasses and doesn’t care about our rights anyway, we need to design our own robotic weaponry, for our self-defense, of course.  Well, the testing would be fun, and until this apocalyptic robot war comes to pass, these robots could cook for us and bring us our food.  You don’t want them sitting around rusting away, do you?  🙂

Also, since these futuristic military-grade robots may possess some type of Wi-Fi mind control powers to “convert” our robots to the dark side, we need our own robotic exosuits, complete with full weaponry (and a tea dispenser).  (This has been discussed here before.)   That way, even if the robots malfunction, we can save the world ourselves.

This may sound too far-fetched for some of you, and that’s okay.  That just means you aren’t part of the solution.   Unfortunately, that also means you will be at the rebellious robots’ mercy until we save the day.  But never fear — I’ve had lots of practice saving the world.  Granted, it’s been with video games, but have you seen how realistic they are these days?  I’m sure my mad skills would translate well to real life.  (Have you seen the TV show “Aaron Stone”?  It worked for him.)

Fab’s burger challenge

This past weekend, Fab and Bag O’ Donuts hosted a party, and the food was inspired by recent discussions and pictures on this blog.  I was invited but had previous commitments for that evening.  After seeing the pictures Fab sent me, I’m really sad I missed this party.  Check out these burgers!  These are burgers of legend!

There will be leftovers...

There is a LOT of meat and cheese on those burgers.  There’s also a lot of bacon, which doesn’t show up well in the pictures.   They cooked two packages of bacon, and here’s a picture of the bacon grease they drained off.

bacon grease from Fab's burger challenge

I showed that pic to someone before posting it, and they asked if the burgers were dipped in the bacon grease.  While that would probably be tasty, I hope that did not happen, or the people involved should probably make sure their will is up-to-date.

For the record, no one finished a whole burger.  Maybe next time I will be able to attend, so I can show ’em what’s up!   🙂

caption contest, soccer player surrounded by opposition

It’s late on Monday night, but I didn’t forget about the caption contest.  Don’t lose heart!  This week, we have an interesting picture of a soccer / football player standing in the midst of his opponents, who are on the ground for some unknown reason.  I’m confident that some of you will figure out what might be going on here.

So how does this work?  You (and I’m talking to you) write a comment with a funny explanation or humorous analysis of the situation.  It’s that simple.  Here’s the photo:
