caption contest, runway model with strange glasses

It’s time for this week’s caption contest!  This week’s photo features a runway model with strange eye-wear.  I’ve always thought fashion was kinda strange, but this makes even less sense than normal.  That’s where you come in — we’ll all work together to figure out what is going on here.  Actually, the funnier you can make your explanation, the better.

free food at Arby’s

Here at Buffet o’ Blog, I usually write about funny stuff — whether original humor or linking to something that’s humorous.  But there is the occasional public service announcement, particularly when it comes to food.  Not only is food important (it’s part of a balanced breakfast), but it can be quite an enjoyable experience.

There have been numerous discussions with the staff here that turned to Arby’s food, especially their curly fries.  (We also had an excellent idea for how Arby’s could gain more impulse customers by using the natural wafting action of the aroma of their curly fries.   But so far they haven’t contacted us.)  Anyway, I’m going to speak about Arby’s again, just so you are in the know.

beef-n-cheddar

At a recent visit to Arby’s, the back of the receipt told of a survey you could take to get a free sandwich — a Regular Roast Beef or a Beef ‘n Cheddar.   Those are both around $3, so that’s something to speak of (hence the post).  The survey is really easy to complete and takes only a few minutes.   I’ve used one already to get a free sandwich.  And the best part is, upon redeeming my free sandwich, I got another survey, which led to another promotional code.  (I did make a purchase in addition to the free sandwich — had to have some curly fries!)

I don’t guarantee that this offer will last or that all receipts include the survey.  But since I’ve gotten two in a row, I figure the odds are good, and you might want to stop by there some time.  It’s nice to get free food.

trailer for Star Wars: The Old Republic

Recently I came upon a new Star Wars trailer, for Star Wars: The Old Republic.  The story picks up after Knights of the Republic, but is set 3,000 years before the timeline of the Star Wars movies.

For fans of the Star Wars movies, let me warn you that this will make you want more.  This trailer is action-packed!  (And it’s not for the faint of heart.)   The story sounds good, too.

The trailer is for an upcoming MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) video game.  I wish it were an upcoming movie!  That’s certainly nothing against video games, but I just don’t have time to play an MMO that much, and this premise would make a great movie.

I’ve heard that the Star Wars movie series is supposed to be over, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there are more made.  There is so much story still unused, and even if it features all new characters, such a movie would still be awesome.  This trailer is proof of that.

Do you know what pancakes know?

I’ve noticed that a lot of the recent comment spam here has been in Russian.  I don’t speak Russian, so it’s all Greek to me.  But I was curious what they were promoting, so I copied one comment and pasted it into Yahoo’s Babel Fish translation service, and it returned this:

To ??? simply!  Everyone, pancake, all knows, except me

For some context, this was a comment on the caption contest featuring weird robot costumes.  Although I’m not sure if that really adds context, but I’ll make it fit.  Let’s see…  Were they calling us “pancake”? pancakes Surely not.  That makes absolutely no sense.  The interpretation didn’t give us the full meaning, so we must apply some interpolation.   Given the context of the caption contest, perhaps they meant everyone knows what is going on in that picture, except them.   That is, even pancakes know what’s going on.  Man, it must be tough to be dumber than a stack of flapjacks.   I reckon that’s why they’re in the spam business…
