caption contest, food in toilet bowl

Welcome to another Caption Contest!  As usual, on Monday I post a funny picture and then we all come up with funny quotes / sayings / commentary / analysis for it.  The only rules are that you keep your comments clean.

This week’s picture speaks for itself (or does it?).   So without further ado, here ya go.

free blog stats, concurrent users

Last month I added an free stats package to the blog, so you can see how many people are currently on the blog.  There’s an icon in the sidebar with a number in it.  Click on the icon in the sidebar, and you go to the stats page for this blog, and it shows graphs based on how many users are here at the same time.

But wait, there’s more!  If you click in the next 30 minutes, you can also see a global map of where our users are from.  That’s pretty cool, but if you click on it, you get a larger version with more detail.  You can see that Buffet o’ Blog is popular all around the world!  🙂  Putting your mouse cursor over a star will reveal where it’s located.  There are also some other map modes you can play with.

And FYI, on the history page, it’s showing the number of concurrent users, with max and average stats.

This is for those of you who are curious about such things (like me), or for people who somehow got the false impression that this blog is obscure.  🙂

when to change your clock for DST

Daylight Savings Time starts tonight (or technically, 2:00am tomorrow).  I heard someone on CNN told people they should set their alarms to wake up at 2:00am so they can adjust their clocks.  Are they kidding?  Did someone really say that?  I hope not, because my method works much better — set the clocks before you go to bed, because it doesn’t matter anyway, and I don’t like waking up in the middle of the night.

BTW, I really don’t like losing an hour of sleep.   I understand why they do it, but there has to be a better way.  In fact, I’ve written before on this, with some suggestions that most everyone would vote for, if we had the chance.  Here’s my idea.  Let me know what you think.

burgers and SUVs

I heard someone on TV say that if everyone ate three fewer burgers per week, it would be the equivalent of taking SUVs off the road.  I don’t know about all that.  But I do figure that if everyone ate 3 fewer burgers per week, we wouldn’t need SUVs so much because we could fit in smaller cars again!  😮
