how to get your own secret military base

Have you ever wanted your own secret military base but just can’t afford it or don’t want the legal headache?  Now there’s an easy solution to your problems.  A company has invented inflatable versions of the equipment you need for your own military compound.

Imagine people seeing that on your property when looking through Google Earth or Google Maps or via spy satellite!  It would be a great practical joke, and you’d get a lot of attention!

Obviously these things are harmless in and of themselves.   But remember that some people don’t appreciate such humor.  And from satellite these things might look realistic enough to warrant serious attention.  So don’t be surprised if you get visited by men in dark suits and dark sunglasses.  Install these fake weapons at your own risk.  🙂

new features at Buffet o’ Blog

Today I’m going to tell you about some of the recent upgrades here at Buffet o’ Blog.

You may have noticed the new check-box next to where you leave your comments.   If you check it and leave a comment, you will receive new comments on that post via e-mail.  That way, if there’s a post you want to follow but don’t want to check back at the blog all the time to see if anyone has written on it, you just check the box and you’ll get an e-mail when someone writes a new comment.

If you are a regular reader here (or want to be) and you want to receive all the comments in your feed reader or by e-mail, we now have that option.  With the e-mail options you will receive one e-mail per day containing all the comments on the blog from the past 24 hours.  If there were no new comments, there is no e-mail.  The instructions for subscribing to this is explained in detail on the new “Subscribe” page.

And of course you can receive the new posts via e-mail or in a feed reader.  I’ve mentioned that before.  Those instructions are also on the “Subscribe” page.

pizza buffet o’ blog

Word has it that the next irregularly scheduled Buffet o’ Blog leadership summit will be at the local Larry’s Pizza tomorrow (Wednesday) at noon.  It may seem odd to some people to have such an important event at a pizza buffet, but it really makes a lot of sense (not that it has to, but it happens to).  The pizza tastes great, and there’s an endless supply.  That alone is worth the price of admission.  That feature of the restaurant lends itself to our meeting’s agenda.  I will explain.  We’ll all eat lots of great pizza (like chicken-bacon-ranch and meat madness — mmm!) and drink plenty of sweet tea.  Then as we become saturated (or even super-saturated) with the yummy goodness, we’ll need to sit around and rest for a while, which provides time for discussion.  This is a good time for our brand of discussions, because everyone is happy from partaking in all that great food and beverage.  Joy and randomness will flow freely.

So obviously it’s a great time, and the verbal discourse leads to future great content for the blog.  It’s a win-win situation for all, really.  So stop by if you get a chance.  Guests and visitors are welcome.

This has been a Buffet o’ Blog public service announcement.

Thank you, drive thru…

caption contest, Big Belly Deli

This week I’ve got a funny picture for the caption contest.  There’s a man of rotund proportions standing outside a restaurant / cafe called Big Belly Deli.  Yeah, the joke is obvious, but there are a lot of caption possibilities with this one.  If you get stuck trying to think of something to write, consider what you’d say in that situation, or suppose you were the one taking the picture, or suppose you’re the announcer for a commercial.  Think outside the box to come up with original captions.
