caption contest, big rock with people in front

Wouldn’t you know it?   It’s time for another caption contest!   This week’s photo features a big rock with some people in what appears to be a dangerous position.   So you can write about what could happen or what already happened.  And of course you can make your caption from the point-of-view of anyone in the picture or of someone watching it.  Really, you can put about anything you want, as long as it’s relevant to the picture and it’s funny.

How long was Bill Murray stuck in Groundhog Day?

Groundhog Day
"Don't drive angry."

If you’ve seen the movie Groundhog Day, perhaps you’ve wondered at some point how long Bill Murray’s character Phil Connors actually stayed there.  I came across a website that is about geeking out (or nerding up) pop culture.  And they tried to figure out how long Phil Connors actually spent living the same day in Punxsutawney on Groundhog Day.

If this will hinder your future viewings of the movie, then don’t continue reading.  If you do keep reading, don’t blame me!

Here’s the link: How long does Bill Murray spend in Groundhog Day?

On the DVD, there’s an estimate of 10 years.   According to that website’s calculations, he was there at least 3,176 Groundhog Days, or 8.7 years, or 8 years, 8 months, and 16 days.  The director actually replied to that blog (in a round-about way), and said it would be at least that long, at a minimum, but probably longer.

Of course, this is open for debate, and, in the end, pointless.  So I won’t keep rambling on about it.

P.S., there is no refund available for the time you wasted on this.  🙂

funny costumes, pt 2

Here’s some more pictures of costumes for Halloween, parties, conventions, etc.  The first funny costumes post featured superhero costumes, so this one will be more random.   Some are from popular franchises like Star Wars and Halo, and there are some creative and well-done ones in here, too.  Feel free to comment on any of them, if you have something funny to add.

This is the hero, Master Chief, from Halo 3. This one will be popular! You can get a cheaper one for $68.95, but the "supreme edition" (shown) is $779.99.

Zoltar, from the movie "Big". This is very well-done! It's not for sale, but at this link they tell how they made it.

Once again this is getting long, so I’ll put the rest in another post.   Here’s a link to search for the other funny costumes posts.

caption contest, sumo wrestler intro

Are you ready for this week’s caption contest?  I know some of you are, because I actually got e-mail letting me know there wasn’t one posted on-time.   (It’s nice to be missed!)  The reason for the delay is because of an electrical malfunction at the Buffet o’ Blog headquarters, preventing me access to my computer and the Internet for a few days.  Now that it’s resolved, things can return to normal (or a reasonable approximation thereof).

Since this week’s caption contest is late, here’s an extra special photo.  And by special, I mean “lots of humor potential”.  It’s a sumo wrestler, performing some sort of introductory dance.  Let the humor begin!

FYI, some sites may frown upon “potty humor”, where you reference passing gas and such.  Let it be known that your humor is welcome here.   🙂
