it can be healthy to be fat

According to cutting-edge research, it is actually healthy to have a fat butt.  That sounds like something crazier than I would ever even make up, but it’s the gist of an article I happened to find on a news website.

For all the people with fat around their stomach, that’s totally unhealthy, unfortunately.  I’ll have to keep looking for some cutting-edge research that finds a way to explain how that’s somehow healthy…

(BTW, I’ve heard blogging professionals say you should include pictures with your posts, to increase interest.  I try to do that sometimes.  But I think this post is an exception.  You should be thankful I realized that…)

Chuck Norris vs a bear

What would happen if a bear attacked Chuck Norris?  There is a video from Walker Texas Ranger that resolves the question.

As you can see, the bear made a surprise attack on Chuck Norris from behind.  Obviously the bear didn’t realize who he was messing with.  Fighting a bear while laying on the ground would be a losing proposition for most people.  You might have dreams of how you would fend it off, but a bear is so many times stronger than a normal human.  But of course, in this video, this isn’t an ordinary human — it’s Chuck Norris.  So he wrestles the bear back, stands to his feet, and then stares the bear down.  I figure his “death stare” was probably conveying the information “I’m Chuck Norris, and if you don’t depart immediately, you will surely die.”  Wisely, the bear left.

I like how they used a judicious amount of slow-motion footage, to add drama to it, even though there’s no way Chuck Norris gets killed by a bear.  And it’s humorous how the woman picked up a stick like she was gonna help, but she just stood there watching.

Oh, and BTW, Chuck Norris doesn’t bleed.  I know it looks like there was some blood on his shirt and hand, but it was either the bear’s blood, or he had some ketchup packets in his pocket.

caption contest, man in shock

I realize posts have been sparse the past week, but I was out-of-town on vacation, and there’s not enough funds in the Buffet o’ Blog treasury to buy me a laptop, so I didn’t do any posting.  (I’d rather not write posts from my phone, even though it’s possible.)   Anyway, I’m back now, and since things are returning to normal, here’s your Monday caption contest.

This week’s photo features a man dressed in a suit, who looks quite shocked about something.   I don’t know who he is or what’s going on, but that’s for you to decide (or, rather, make up).   Explain what this guy might be witnessing or what he might be thinking.

how Transformers should look in the next movie

I’m a big fan of Transformers — the original series (G1).  I’ve ranted before at how disappointed I was with Michael Bay’s Transformer movies.   I’m not totally against modernizing it (it could’ve looked like this), but he took away the characters and personalities, which is what made them great.  Anyway, I won’t get started on all that again.

There’s a new Transformers game coming out June 22, called War for Cybertron.  Let me say this: if you like sci-fi / action movies but don’t play video games, you should still watch the videos below.  This is how the Transformer movies should have looked! The designs are modernized, but they’re still recognizable.  (And it should be expected that they look different — this is on Cybertron before they came to earth and were transformed for disguise here.)   And the graphics look incredible!  The story is of the civil war that began between Decepticons and Autobots.  There is a big story there from the original ’80s cartoon and the comics.  (I recommend reading the comic series “The War Within” if you want to know how it all started.  Really interesting and philosophical.)

The game director said, “I wanna make the game I’ve been waiting 25 years to play.”  And it only gets more awesome from there.   Imagine playing as some of the characters shown: Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron, Soundwave, Omega Supreme.  And they brought back the original voice actor for Optimus Prime, which is great.

The first video is the interview with the people making the game, the 2nd video is the full trailer, and the 3rd video is the gameplay trailer.  They’re all good.  FYI, be sure to watch in HD, for the full effect.  (If the embedded videos won’t show HD, here’s the links to them: interview, full trailer, gameplay trailer.)

That makes me excited!  I will definitely have to try this game!  Hopefully the developers can pull it off and make it as fun as it looks to be.

If this had been a movie trailer, I’d be pre-ordering the DVD right now!  To whoever is making the next Transformers live-action movies, they need to look at this for an example of how it should be done.
