a car covered with yarn

You can find things on the Internet that you would've never thought of before… and here is more proof.

This guy has covered his 1967 Imperial in four miles of yarn… he considers it a serious work of art. And he does drive it around. Imagine the outside of your car being a fabric…

Here's a statement from his Q & A that I found amusing : "It's a hobby. Some people collect stamps, some people watch TV. I make art with yarn on my car."

This is definitely random… yarncar.com. There's a photo gallery there that has quite a few pictures, if you want to see some close-ups.

For the record, I’ve been watching Strong Bad over two years now, so I know it’s not new. But not everyone knows about it yet, so I decided to post a link to it. (And why is there a Strong Bad comment on the yarn car post?)

About something being “old school”, that’s an inside joke. I think the term is tossed about too lightly these days. And I think that happens because people don’t know what is “cool”. Who is the arbiter of cool? Each one of us. It’s a subjective truth — not objective. One person can say one thing from the ’70s is old-school while another thing from the same era is “retro” and thus desirable. What makes the difference? Whether you like it or not.

Anyway, I started chasing rabbits… you may now return to your regularly-scheduled blog-reading already in progress…

I think a great idea for the yarncar is to find a loose end of yarn & tie it to a firehydrant… then as they drive away watch the car unravel… mwa-ha ha ha…

What's on your mind?
