the food groups

A friend recently explained to me how the food “pyramid” taught by schools is all wrong.  He enlightened me with what it should be :

5 food groups : sweets, meats, plants, potatoes, jerky.

4 beverage groups : milk, tea, carbonated, water.

He said potatoes constitute their own group b/c you can make so much with them and it’s all good.

Now you know… spread the word.

    On that whole food pyramid thingy, they tell you to eat many servings of grains/breads/cereals daily, nearly as many, if not more than fruits and veggies.

    Now consider this question: What do farmers and ranchers feed their livestock to fatten them up for slaughter? And the FDA can’t figure out why obesity is on the increase in this country.

    I’ve followed this pyramid faithfully all my life and am considerably overweight. I’m filing suit against the gov’t. They goin’ down.

    I think Fab’s onto something… I’ve been indoctrinated with that FDA-approved food pyramid for years, and I’m overweight, too. I think it’s the FDA’s fault! I never intended to get fat! I just eat what I think is right & proper, according to all I’ve learned.

    And from being fat, I’ve suffered all kind of ridicule, and I get tired a lot, and I never got that pro baseball contract out of high school like I was going to, etc. I think a few million $ will help ease my pain… 🙂
