caption contest, soldiers with balloons

It is once again time for a caption contest.  The photo this time features a group of people in military uniforms with balloons trapped inside large nets.   Are the balloons being held hostage?  Are they being taken away?  Will they be released?  What is the purpose of all this?   You decide.

caption contest, person watching volcano eruption

Once again, it’s time for our weekly caption contest.  I’m fairly sure we have yet to exhaust the previous one, but I’ll give you another one anyway.   Feel free to peruse the archives — your comments will be seen, no matter how old the post is.

Anyway, rambling aside, here’s the picture.   There’s someone standing outside a small stone house, looking at a volcano starting to erupt.  It looks like something action-packed is about to happen.  From the filename, I deduce it’s the Kliuchevskoi volcano in Russia.   But you need not concern yourself with the facts, because it’s a caption contest, so you get to make up the context.  Create some funny story / explanation / joke to go with the picture.

caption contest, car flipping over, 3 guys watching

Welcome to this week’s caption contest.  (And a big OHA! to people joining us from Facebook today!)  This week’s photo features three men watching an SUV rolling over.  That’s all the context you get.  It’s up to you to figure out what’s going on here.  Why is the vehicle crashing?  Why are these men watching?   What are they thinking?  What is the driver thinking?  And of course, you can make jokes (or puns, if you must) that go along with this.  Have fun with it!

caption contest, contraption from 1911

Now that the busyness of the holiday season is over, we can get back to normal around here.   And part of normal is a weekly caption contest.   (Thanks to those of you who noticed we missed the last two weeks — it’s nice that someone actually noticed!   I knew there were people who actually read this!)

This week’s photo is an old black-and-white / sepia-tone picture from 1911.  It’s a man holding some type of contraption — I don’t know what it is, so you get to make it up.  You can also explain who he is and what he’s up to.  Is that his invention?  Is it to make life better?  Is it for a prank?  Is it part of some world domination scheme?  You get to decide.  So think up something funny to explain this picture.  Remember, you can create your own context to fit the story.  You can even set the scenario in modern times (or include a time machine, which has a lot of potential).
