Groundhog Day turns violent, meaning uncertain

Well, we just had Groundhog Day.  It’s too bad the holiday isn’t anything like the movie.  That would be great if we got to live the same day in a row a few times.  🙂  Anyway, supposedly the groundhog saw his shadow, so we have more winter.  Whatever…

The news on this day should be what it means that a groundhog bit New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg during their ceremony.  Yes, their little festival had violence.  I’ve wondered why groundhogs participate in this stupid tradition, when they should be hibernating.  Well, “Staten Island Chuck” decided to take matters into his own hand… er, mouth.

But now the bigger question remains unanswered — what does this physical violence mean for the rest of the winter?  Does it signal the worst winter ever?  Does it foreshadow our ultimate doom?  What exactly is going to happen now?  I guess time will tell (unless there happens to be a groundhog prediction expert in the crowd)…

Today I’m gonna show you some funny pictures.  I have quite a stash of them in my inventory, and everyone likes seeing funny pictures, right?  [All together now: “YAY!”]

This isn’t an official caption contest, but that doesn’t matter.  If you think of something funny to add to these pics in way of a caption, have at it.  Share the humor.  That way, instead of just you laughing, countless untold dozens of people get to laugh also.  Maybe somebody will even go so far as to think you’re funny!  (It could happen…)

That concludes our introductory pilot episode of funny pictures.  I’m creating a category for it, so you can click on it to quickly find the other ones (later).  Also of note, there have been funny pictures posted previously, particularly in the “Say What?” caption contests.

How to have fun at a Pumpkin fest

I get a e-mail about once a week spotlighting various vacation destinations or places to visit.

The most recent is about the Circleville Pumpkin Show that is held each year in Circleville Ohio. (read more here if you are interested)

“The festival features hog calling, pumpkin throwing, and pie eating contests; a Miss Pumpkin parade and pageant; cooking and crafts demonstrations; and live music, all attracting over 400,000 visitors. But the stars of the show are enormous pumpkins, with last year’s largest weighing in at 1,524.5 pounds. Not to be outdone by the farmers, town bakers produce “the world’s largest pumpkin pie”—over six feet in diameter and weighing more than 400 pounds!”

Now you may be wondering why I’m talking about some pumpkin festival and not finding a topic that would seem more interesting.

I can’t help but think… “man oh man, what i wouldn’t give to drive a monster truck through all that!!!” or at least a 4-wheeler!!! that would be crazy mad fun!

I vote we set this up as an event here in Arkansas, like they do the monster truck shows, we could sell tickets and everything! I bet people would pay good money to come watch vehicles smash and drive through thousands of pumpkins.

sounds like great fun for me! and We should hold it in the fall in honor of halloween or thanksgiving.

mmm… Thanksgiving… thinking about that makes me hungry!
