I don’t own a bed

I’ve been married a few years now, so I’ve learned a few things about relationships.  And I’ve learned that women sometimes see things differently than men do.

Just recently I learned that we do not have a bed in our bedroom.  This was quite the surprise for me, because I always thought we were sleeping in a bed.  I mean, it’s a bed frame with a couple of mattresses, along with pillows, sheets, and blankets.  To me, that’s a bed.  But apparently it’s not a bed.  I’m not sure what it is, then.  Can anyone explain this?

I did find out why it’s not a bed, though — it doesn’t have the decorative headboard and footboard on it.  Supposedly that makes it a bed.  Uhh, yeah…  So I’m still not sure what we have, but I’m going to call it a bed anyway…

a game with food for prizes

We’ve linked to several games here that were a lot of fun, but today I’m linking to a different type of game.  It is fun, but it also helps feed the hungry!  Confused?  Don’t be.  For correctly answering questions on this page about the definition of words, they donate rice to the U.N. World Food Program to help end world hunger.  There are ads on the page that pay for the rice donations.

So how is this a game?  I’m glad you asked!  I will explain. It starts out with varying degrees of difficulty, to determine an approximate starting level for your vocabulary.  If you get a definition wrong, you go to an easier level.  If you get three in a row correct, you go to a harder level.  The maximum level is 55, but I don’t see that happening without cheating.

So play it, expand your vocabulary, and in doing so you are donating rice to starving people in third-world countries.  Obviously, it’s a win-win situation.

Karl Rove gets his groove on

I’ve said for a while that I think professional politicians ought to have a sense of humor.  So many of them seem completely humorless.  It would make politics a lot more interesting if they could take a joke or loosen up once in a while.  It’s just not healthy to be serious 100% of the time.

That said, I just found a video where Karl Rove and his “homies” decided to bust a move at The Radio and Television Correspondents Association dinner.  I’m not sure this was a good idea…

I will give them a few points for trying to be funny.  At least they’re trying.  But then I’ll take away all those points and then some for how lame this is.  I mean, there’s bad, and there’s so-bad-it’s-funny, and there’s this-is-so-horrible-that-I-feel-dumber-for-watching-it.  This falls into the latter category.

BTW, I doubt this gives him more “street cred”…

It’s time for another caption contest!  I’m going to go with the political theme again, since the race for the Democratic nomination is all over the news, plus I have this picture of Hillary Clinton with a black Elvis wanna-be.  I think there’s a lot of potential with this one.
