caption contest, Joe Biden – SHH!

It’s just another manic Monday, but here at Buffet o’ Blog we make Mondays more fun with a weekly caption contest.  And so, let’s get started.

This week I’m posting a politically-themed photo, which in and of itself isn’t funny, but we’re going to make it funny.  You don’t have to write about politics, but you can if you want.  This is Joe Biden, Barack Obama’s Democrat Vice President nominee.  Figure out what’s going on in this picture.

Karl Rove gets his groove on

I’ve said for a while that I think professional politicians ought to have a sense of humor.  So many of them seem completely humorless.  It would make politics a lot more interesting if they could take a joke or loosen up once in a while.  It’s just not healthy to be serious 100% of the time.

That said, I just found a video where Karl Rove and his “homies” decided to bust a move at The Radio and Television Correspondents Association dinner.  I’m not sure this was a good idea…

Here’s the link to the video.

I will give them a few points for trying to be funny.  At least they’re trying.  But then I’ll take away all those points and then some for how lame this is.  I mean, there’s bad, and there’s so-bad-it’s-funny, and there’s this-is-so-horrible-that-I-feel-dumber-for-watching-it.  This falls into the latter category.

BTW, I doubt this gives him more “street cred”…

add your own captions, Barack Obama photo

For the second installment of our “Say What?” series of writing captions for photos, we’re going to use a political picture.  This year, politics has been dominating the news, with all the primaries and caucuses to find a couple of presidential candidates.

This picture features one of the main Democrat candidates, Barack Hussein Obama.  This particular picture has become controversial of late, because he didn’t put his hand over his heart during the National Anthem.  The U.S. Flag Code states that you should in this situation.  And lest you think it’s just a well-timed photo, there’s a video at Snopes.com that shows he wasn’t for the entire song.  An Obama campaign spokesperson said, “Sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn’t.  In no way was he making any sort of statement, and any suggestion to the contrary is ridiculous.”  You can think what you want about that, though I wonder why a professional politician who calculates every move would sometimes do it and sometimes not do it.  Anyway, let’s get to the picture and the captions.

You can write what Obama might be thinking, or what the other people in the photo might be thinking, or you can write your own analysis or commentary of the situation from a third-party perspective.  Have fun!

if Obama gets elected…

Here at Buffet o’ Blog, we usually don’t get too involved in discussions about politics, unless it’s for humor reasons.  And that brings us to today’s post.

At the moment, it looks like Hillary Clinton is not going to get the nomination (which has some people really excited).  But that means that Barack Obama would get the Democratic nomination for President.  He promises lots of “change”, though he hasn’t really said what that change would be, so I’m skeptical and somewhat concerned.  Nonetheless, let’s get to the humor instead of dwelling on the sad state of political affairs in the U.S. right now.  Here goes…

If Obama were elected, America would be called an Obama-nation.
