NES-themed coffee table

Someone has made a coffee table that looks like an original Nintendo (NES) controller.  And get this, it is fully functional.  The top glass comes off, and you can actually play games with it!  It also opens up for storage inside.

I WANT ONE!!!  Although, being married, I doubt this would go with our living room “theme”.  But it would be perfect for a game room or home theater room.

Unfortunately, it’s homemade and not for sale.  Seriously, someone should market these.  This is probably the only time I’d ever get excited about buying a coffee table.

parody videos of old-school games

Today I’m going to link to a few gaming-related videos.  Even if you’re not currently into gaming, these reference mostly “old-school” games like Super Mario Brothers and Donkey Kong, so almost everyone can relate to these.

What would it be like if someone combined two of the best games ever?  I’m talking about Super Mario Bros. and Doom.  Somebody made a Doom mod and then added some effects to merge it with Mario.  Check out the video : click here.

Here’s a video of a commercial for the first Super Smash Bros. game on the Nintendo 64.  It features live-action people in costume beating the crap out of each other.  It was a great introduction to the first game in this series.

humor in the Wii Fit trailer

There’s a new game called Wii Fit coming out for the Nintendo Wii soon, and one of the trailers has some humorous moments in it.  The first part consists of players kicking soccer balls at you, and you must block them with your head.  This video is funny for three reasons : 1) the intro, where the game looks really lame with folks just jumping around;  2) the players sometimes kick other things at you, like their shoes and a panda head (WHAT?!?);  and 3) the thought that some people almost fall off the couch or bed trying to play video games with a standard controller — imagine them having to balance themselves and move around quickly while responding to all that’s going on; that could be funny.
