funny costumes, pt 3

We’ve made several posts already containing funny / cool / awesome / weird Halloween costumes, but the pictures continue to pour in, so here’s more.  Feel free to comment on any of them, if you have something funny to add.

If you happen to be stuck in a wheelchair during Halloween, convert it to the Batmobile.
I know, there's the saying "if pigs had wings", and some people will be amused by how corny it is, but some people will think it's stupid. Wear at your own risk.
Green army men. This is cool.
I like this because it shows creativity and it's unique.
I'm not sure if he's supposed to be the Silver Surfer or Aluminum Foil Man. At least he tried...
Speaking of trying... here's Mario, Wario, Luigi, Toad, and Princess Peach (or is that Daisy?)
Oh, my! This somewhat resembles Wonder Woman, but something just ain't quite right. This reminds me of the Tacky Party our singles group at church used to have...

This is getting long and there’s still more to go, so I’m going to break this up into multiple posts.  Here’s a link to search for the other funny costumes posts.

how to build your own Batmobile

Most guys who have seen any of the Batman movies would like to have their own Batmobile.  There’s been several versions of it over the years, and just about any of them would be great to own.

A Swedish man created a do-it-yourself (DIY) Batmobile.   He started with a 1973 Lincoln Continental chassis, and added voice recognition tech, rear-view cameras, satellite navigation, and of course machine guns.  The engine puts out 700 horsepower.   He also included a DVD player and a plasma TV, for when you’re taking a break from saving the world.   (But how many cupholders does it have?)

DIY Batmobile

Unfortunately, the cost is prohibitive to me ever owning one.   It cost $1 million and took 20,000 man-hours to build.

If you want the newer Batmobile (the Tumbler version), there are actual ones that were built for the movies, albeit several different versions.  But they are able to accelerate from 0 to 60 in 5 seconds, and they can make and land 30 foot jumps without tearing up.  And there’s a version that shoots fire out the back.   One of those would come in handy…

Where does he get those wonderful toys?!?

On a related note, there are several interesting articles at this link discussing The Physics of Batman.   Well, they’re interesting if you enjoy discussing whether some of Batman’s technology is possible in real-life.

funny costumes, pt 1

For years, people have enjoyed dressing up in costumes, whether for Halloween or for parties.  There’s also movie premiers and conventions, where die-hard fans get into cosplay (costume roleplay).  Sometimes these costume attempts end up being funny, whether intentionally or just because it’s so bad (epic fail).   Here’s a few that fall into one of those categories (but mostly the latter).  Let’s start with people trying to be superheroes.

guy in Aquaman costume, with feathers
Why would you want to dress up as a wuss? And with feathers?
Spiderman costume, but something's wrong
There's several things wrong with this picture. Can you find them?
guy in Batman costume
The Atkins Diet really worked for Batman!
guy in Captain Marvel costume
Does this make you marvel?
guy in costume - it's not easy being Green... Lantern
It's not easy being Green... Lantern.
guy in Flash Gordon costume
I know he's supposed to be a good guy, but this scares me.
guy in Galactus costume
Uhh...
old man in Batman costume, missing parts
No utility belt, no shoes, no service.
costume - Iron Man downgraded to Paper Man
The economic downturn even affected Tony Stark. But switching from iron to paper is gonna cost him in other ways...
costume - Space Ghost
Space Ghost is awesome, but every time someone dresses up like him, it just doesn't work out so well...

This post is getting long, so I’ll put the rest of them in another post.  Here’s a link to search for the other funny costumes posts.

1960s style trailer for Batman: The Dark Knight

You’ve probably seen the recent Batman movie The Dark Knight, featuring the Joker.  (If you haven’t, what’s wrong with you?   It’s only one of the best action movies ever!)  Anyway, someone made a new trailer for that movie but set it in the context of the 1960s Batman TV series (which is good, but cheesy, and takes itself way too seriously).  Prepare to be taken back in time*.

* Not literally.  That technology is still in the research stage.

Now, the video:
