unique art using music from Zelda

I recently came across a neat video on YouTube of a user named Sp0ntanius playing the Palace Theme from Zelda II: The Adventure of Link on guitar and paper, and filmed it in 4 pieces with stop-motion video.  (Yes, using guitar and paper for instruments.)   This is a unique type of art.  If you ever played Zelda II on the original Nintendo (NES), you will remember this music and it will probably make you want to play it again.   (Well, if you never beat it, you may not want to play it again, but if that’s the case, you should play it again, because it’s a great game, and it’s definitely beatable — I can vouch for that.)

There’s also a video of this guy playing the “Song of Healing” from The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, using only wine glasses, if you’re interested.

funny remix of Deck the Halls

Recently I went to a free concert by the Conway Men’s Chorus, and they performed a funny version of Deck the Halls (Fa La La La) where they incorporated various other songs in with it, in a way you wouldn’t expect.  It’s in the video below, starting at 3:55.

Merry Christmas!

awesome TV commercials

Have you ever seen TV commercials that are cooler than the TV show you’re watching?  (If so, you probably need to watch something else.)  But there are a few commercials that come close.  My current favorite one is for the Nissan Juke, called Donut Action.  This is the longer version of the commercial (just over a minute), where the intern forgot the donuts for the business status meeting.

The whole commercial is cool, but I especially like the end, where he shows up with the donuts and says “Bang!”  Then the announcer says, “That’s right.”  Classic.

Also worth mentioning is the Geico commercial that asks, “Does a former drill sergeant make a terrible therapist?”

(I didn’t think he was terrible…)

football mascot vs cheerleader

Here’s something you don’t see every day.  The mascot for the Tennessee Titans football team ate a cheerleader.  (The video is just 14 seconds, in case you’re wondering if you have time to watch it.)

Notice her hair just before she is consumed — did he belch in her face?

And what exactly is that mascot?  And why is it so rotund?
